Tall Parrot Head

Copper Parrot Heads are primarily used to see in real time the Alcoholic Strength of your distillation as it comes out the still.
The Parrot Head is placed after the condenser outlet, allowing the distillate to flow through on its way to the collection container. It's handy because the parrot will hold your hydrometer, so you can take real-time readings of the alcohol percentage during the distillation process without having to transfer to a hydrometer jar.
Don’t place Parrot under the outlet immediately at the start of distillation wait until it starts dripping into your collection chamber. If you need to discard the first 50, 100, or 150ml (as per instructions) then you can. Now place the parrot under the output tube so it will drip into the tallest part of the parrot head.
Now in the second chamber (slightly lower height) you can drop your hydrometer. Do not worry if this is down too low to see as when the alcohol starts coming through the spirit hydrometer will rise. Make sure you have another container to collect the spirit once it comes out of the end tube.

When using the T500, I suggest letting the spirit drip into a separate collection chamber so you can remove the first 50, 100 or 100mls as per your instructions. Once done simply place the distillation outlet tube (the hard plastic one) into the higher spout on the Parrot. You can then put the spirit hydrometer into the second (lower) chamber. This will rise with the liquid coming through. It is essential that the tube is NOT submerged into the distillate at any time, (let it drip in) even when the still is turned off.
(If you were to leave it then it’s possible you can create a vacuum and cause an implosion to the still.)
If you intend to use the parrot on a more permanent basis you may wish to cut the outlet pipe to suit and maybe create a way of holding this in place.
If you don't already have one, you have the option to include a Spirit Hydrometer
Also included is a base. The Air Still stands approx 24.5cm. The T500 is 36cm tall.
There is an option to purchase a taller one if you require it higher.
The T500 is primarily designed to be used with a Demijohn and the head of the Parrot will drip directly into it
